Male Student - Athlete of the Month

RICHMOND, KY- Tre King is a freshman basketball player from Lexington, Kentucky and is currently majoring in Business.

“Tre’s dedication to excellence is showing not only on the court but more importantly, in the classroom,” Coach A.W. Hamilton, Head Coach of the Colonels, commented. King has shown his dedication with the books and the basketball so far this semester. King’s high school academic and athletic career started in Lexington, KY at Lexington Christian Academy. He then transferred to Hargrave Military Academy in 2016, where the coach at the time was current EKU coach, AW Hamilton. King was team captain at Hargrave for the 2017-18 season and led the Tigers to a 33-4 record, a No. 4 national ranking and an appearance in the National Prep Championship Elite 8. During his senior campaign, King averaged an impressive 14.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.9 steals and 1.4 blocks per game. “I’m so proud of Tre. He’s extremely motivated to be the best version of himself in all aspects of his life,” AW Hamilton stated.

After college, King plans on playing professional basketball and getting into coaching. “Tre is the epitome of what we hope all of our student-athletes strive to be,” Monika Banbel, the director of Bratzke, the EKU student-athlete academic success center and men’s basketball team’s academic advisor said. “I look forward to seeing all the great things he will do in the future. Tre is a student who truly deserves to be rewarded for his hard work and commitment to excellence.”
