SAAC Raising Money to Send EKU Veteran to OVC Tourney
Eastern Kentucky University's Student-Athlete Advisory Council is coordinating a fundraising event to help send Tony Hoskins, a 20-year United States Air Force veteran, to the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament in Nashville, Tennessee on March 4 and 5.
SAAC is hosting the sixth Jock N' Roll on Monday, Feb. 8 at 9 p.m. in the Brock Auditorium. The Jock N' Roll is an all-EKU student-athlete talent show comprised of various student-athletes.
Performances will be judged by EKU President Dr. Michael T. Benson, as well as EKU student body president Katie Scott.
Tickets for the event will be available Feb. 1-5 and the 8th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Powell Corner or they can be purchased in the Bratzke Center located in Alumni Coliseum anytime prior to the event for $2. Tickets will be available at the door for $3.
Hoskins, a Frankfort, Indiana native, returned to EKU following a lengthy military career to complete his degree. Hoskins served as an airplane mechanic, while in the Air Force and is pursuing a degree in aviation that will allow him to fulfill his dream of flying commercially.
"We are so appreciative of Tony's service to our country and he and his family are deserving of a weekend in Nashville to relax and enjoy the OVC Basketball Tournament," SAAC advisor Josh Shipp said. "This event is just a small token of appreciation to all of our service men and women fighting for our freedom."
