Female Student Athlete of the Month - Paige Murphy

RICHMOND, Ky -  Paige Murphy is a junior from Louisville, Kentucky and is currently majoring in Sport Management.

“Paige is the student-athlete that everyone wishes they had,” said Marina Coleman, her academic advisor.  “She is a strong academic student. She’s always on top of everything and never hesitates to come to me if she needs help with anything. I would also say that she is one of the leaders on the team. Her absence and presence are definitely felt. She suffered a concussion back in the beginning of March and had to sit out for 12 games of the season due to her lingering symptoms. While she was having a hard time with the concussion, she didn’t let it keep her down or use it as an excuse. She worked to the best of her abilities and did what she could to stay on top of her classes. When she was able to get back on the field, she made sure everyone knew she was back hitting .500 with a HR, double, RBI, and two runs scored in her first weekend back with the team. Paige is great individual and definitely worthy of this recognition.”

She received academic honors from the National Fastpitch Coach Association and the OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll this past academic year. In addition, she made the Dean’s List both previous semesters and was inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma this spring. Her future career plans include working in collegiate athletics either as a coach or on the administrative side. Whether it be helping out in the community or at EKU athletic events, she has logged numerous volunteer service hours.  As a member of our Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), she played an active role in planning the seventh annual Jock ‘N Roll fundraising event, an event to support part of the Ohio Valley Conference initiative called Hoops for Heroes.
